A man has been arrested following a hit-and-run in Edinburgh city centre which left five pedestrians in hospital.
Two men, aged 39 and 60, and three women, aged 37, 22 and 65, were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment, Police Scotland have confirmed.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested.
An abandoned silver Ford Fiesta with a smashed windscreen and missing wheels was pictured behind a cordon in Lothian Street this morning, reports the Daily Record.
The force said it responded to reports of five pedestrians being hit by a vehicle in Rose Street, near its junction with Frederick Street, at around 12.40am.
The vehicle failed to stop at the scene and subsequently was involved in a crash with a bus, a spokesperson added.
They said the patients remain in a stable condition.
