Brit tourist dies in scooter crash hours after sending Valentine’s message

A British holidaymaker has tragically died in a horrific head-on collision with a six-tonne lorry in the early hours of this morning. The unidentified man posted a Valentine’s Day message to his wife just hours before riding a scooter back from the beach on the island of Phuket in southern Thailand.

Eyewitnesses reported that his scooter veered into the opposite lane and crashed into the front of an oncoming Isuzu NLR 130 delivery truck. The impact sent his motorcycle hurtling through the air, subsequently colliding with a grey Toyota minivan. He was declared dead at the scene due to severe head injuries shortly after 5am local time.

His final online message read: ‘I want to wish my beautiful wife a wonderful Valentines Day. I want to give you everything you deserve and more.. You are my rock and my world. I love you with all my heart.’

Shaken lorry driver Hakam Yuso, 26, recounted, ‘I was driving from the roundabout towards the beach. I saw the scooter cut into my lane and it crashed into the front of the lorry. ‘I didn’t have time to react. I heard a loud bang when the scooter hit the vehicle and it skidded across the road.

‘Immediately, I stopped driving and moved the lorry to the side of the road, waiting for the ambulance and police.’

Authorities stated that they are presently awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine if the tourist had been riding the scooter under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
