Devastated family calls for answers after baby dies in hospital hours after being born

The mother of a “beautiful” baby girl who died within 24 hours of being born has pledged to “never give up the fight” to find out what happened to her child.

Kimberley Lindop gave birth to Polly at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester on 13 March.

Lindop said: “We will never give up the fight. We will find out exactly what happened in the hours leading up to Polly’s death.

A baby couldn’t be loved any more – she is our everything and she lives on in her brothers and sister every day.” Nearly three months after Polly’s death, Greater Manchester Police reported that they are investigating potential gross negligence manslaughter.

Detectives have questioned a range of staff at the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust-run hospital in connection with Polly’s death.

No arrests have been made as yet and the police have said that the trust has been “fully cooperative” with their investigation.
