A 16-year-old girl has lost her life, and another boy, aged 15, has been rushed to the hospital following a tragic crash. The teenage driver, aged 17, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The collision took place on the A249 near Maidstone at approximately 6.45 pm on Saturday. According to Kent Police, a white Toyota Hilux struck a road barrier, resulting in the vehicle overturning.
The vehicle was travelling in the direction of Sittingbourne when it collided with the barrier near the junction for Church Hill. Tragically, the 16-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries at the scene, and her next of kin have been notified.
A 17-year-old boy, who sustained minor injuries, was transported to the hospital. However, he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and taken into custody, as confirmed by the police force.
