A woman has died in a crash on the M25 involving a van and three cars after a police chase – as the incident is referred to the police watchdog. The ‘serious road traffic collision’ occurred at around 4 am on Sunday 4 February, with police stating they had ceased pursuing the van moments before the crash.

The M25 will remain closed between junctions 22 and 25 while authorities handle the aftermath of the collision, which is believed to have wreckage scattered across all four lanes.

Hertfordshire Police said: ‘The M25 remains closed between junctions 22 (London Colney) and 21A (North Orbital Road/St Albans) following a collision at around 4 am this morning.
